“Offering a thrilling and stylish tour through nocturnal music across the ages, the German recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger and Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca present various facets of the night. The well selected repertory from Middle Ages to the 20th century requires a wide spectrum of styles and techniques. ENSEMBLE TETRAKTIS IN VENICE FOR FONDAZIONE GIORGIO CINI LEADING 2019 WORKSHOP PERCUSSIONE CREA-AZIONE.

Tetraktis Ensemble will lead the 2020 Research-led Performance workshop at Fondazione Cini in Venice from 28th until 30th of October. The Research-led Performance series of workshops, started by the Institute of Music in 2016, brings together musicological experts and performers in a process of mutual integration: on one
hand, performance practice is consolidated thanks to archival research acquisitions and theoretical study; on the other, academics can make use of the experience of performances to verify and refine their scholarly investigations. The workshop is for percussionists with experience of playing solo, or in orchestras and percussion ensembles, and composers interested in exploring the use of percussion in an orchestral or chamber composition. The three pieces selected for study are by composers whose archives are held by the Institute of Music: Giacomo Manzoni, D’improvviso, for six/twelve percussionists (1981); Niccolò Castiglioni, Cronaca del Ducato di Urbino for six percussionists (1991); and Fausto Romitelli, Chorus for six percussionists (2001).
The practical sessions will be led by the Tetraktis Percussioni Ensemble. Moderated by Gianfranco Vinay (University of Paris 8), the theoretical sessions will be conducted by Massimiliano Locanto (University of Salerno), Veniero Rizzardi (Ca’ Foscari University, Venice, and Cesare Pollini Conservatory, Padua), and Francisco Rocca (Fondazione Giorgio Cini).
Lastly, there will be a talk by the composer Giorgio Battistelli. The workshop will end with a concert by the Tetraktis Percussioni Ensemble.

DF ARTISTS WELCOMES SONATORI DE LA GIOIOSA MARCA TO ITS ROSTER.

DF ARTISTS welcomes in its roster Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, one of the leading European baroque ensemble.

Sonaori de la Gioiosa Marca have devoted their thirty years spanning career to the study, research and diffusion of the venetian baroque music.

Of their various recordings some are considered milestones in the interpretation of the venetian instrumental music of the 15th and 16th century, they awarded the most important international prizes and are a referring source for young artists and scholars.

Particulary esteemed are the recordings devoted to the venetian instrumental and vocal music (from Gabrieli to Legrenzi to Albinoni) and the Vivaldi recordings with Giuliano Carmignola, Dorothee Oberlinger and Sergio Azzolini; mainly based on previously unknown sources and manuscripts, these interpretations are noticeable for a new and deeper approach to the venetian musical style.

Besides performing in the most important Festivals, I Sonatori teach in the italian Conservatori of music, and have formed new generation of performers who refer to the venetian string performing tradition.

Sonatori’s projects with DF Artists include Night Music and Venetian Flute with Dorothee Oberlinger, Vivaldi in the Mirror, Follie all’italiana, I suoni del Palladio and many others, all concerning the best Italian and European baroque repertoire for this kind of ensemble.
