ENSEMBLE TETRAKTIS AT TEATRO BIBIENA FOR TEMPO D’ORCHESTRA, THE SEASON OF OCM.

Ensemble Tetraktis’ debut at Teatro Bibiena in Mantua for Tempo d’Orchestra, the season organized by Orchestra da Camera di Mantova. Music by Lully, Bach, Rossini, Harrison, Cage, Boccadoro, Sollima. The day after on the morning again live at Teatro Bibiena for “Madama DoRe” with the concert “Favole al Telefono”, based on the short stories book written by Gianni Rodari and music by Maria Gabriella Zen.

GOMALAN BRASS AT ISTITUZIONE UNIVERSITARIA DEI CONCERTI IN ROME WITH A PREMIERE OF DONATO SEMERARO (“ESSENZE” – 2018)

Gomalan Brass live in Rome at IUC on March 5th at 8,30 pm with “Italy in Brass”, a special concert all dedicated to italian music for brass quintet. In the program music by Gabrieli, Lully, Bellafronte, Berio, Short, Ottolini and a première by Donato Semeraro: “Essenze”, written in 2018 and dedicated to Gomalan Brass Quintet. The day after at 11,00 am “Heart Beat Brass” for the IUC school students program.

GOMALAN BRASS AT UNIONE MUSICALE TORINO

Gomalan Brass will play on Sunday February 10th 2019 at Teatro Vittoria in Turin for Unione Musicale. A full classical program for the wonderful italian brass ensemble including music by Bach, Cajkovskij, Gershwin, Williams, Rodrigo, Rota, Bernstein, and closing with David Short’s Balkan Burger, dedicated to the ensemble.

Gomalan Brass again in Verona on Sunsady February 3rd 2019 at Teatro Ristori for a concert replicating the program of their last unforgettable Japan Tour. “The Japan Tour in Italy” includes music by Giovanni Gabrieli, Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi, Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Mauro Ottolini and Ohno/Micalizzi.

A Sunday matinée dedicated to a wonderful repertoire for percussion quartet including Lou Harrison – The song of the Quetzalcoatl, Ramberto Ciammarughi – Elegia, Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic – Trio per Uno, Carlo Boccadoro – Aisha, John Cage – Third Construction, Giovanni Sollima – Millennium Bug suite and Gioacchino Rossini – L’Italiana in Algeri.

Mario Marzi, winner of nine national and four international competitions, has performed with the most important symphonic orchestras, amongst them the Orchestra Sinfonica RAI di Torino, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Arena di Verona, Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Firenze, Filarmonica del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi Milano and the Caracas Symphony Orchestra.
Since twenty years he has been working with the Teatro alla Scala and with the Filarmonica della Scala under the baton of the nowadays leading conductors R. Muti, C. M. Giulini, G. Pretre, L. Maazel, L. Berio, S. Bychkov, G. Sinopoli, W. Sawallisch, M. W. Chung, G. Dudamel, C. Abbado, R. Chailly and D. Harding.
He often plays with Mr. Riccardo Muti and is regularly invited to join Mr. Zubin Mehta and the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino on concert tours.
He has played at famous national and international festivals such as the “Biennale di Venezia”, “Settembre Musica”, “La Scala di Milano”, “Accademia Filarmonica di Roma” or the “Ravenna Festival”. Other concerts took place in Salzburg, Athens, Madrid, Saint Petersburg and Mexico City as well as in prestigious halls and theatres such as in the “Carnegie Hall” in New York, the “Suntory Hall” in Tokyo, the “Gewandhaus” in Leipzig, the “Musikverein” in Wien, the “Schauspielhaus” in Berlin, the “Lacma Museum” in Los Angeles, the “Grand National Theatre” of China-Beijing, the “European Parliament” in Brussels, the “Ciajkovskij Hall” in Moscow and the “Liceu” in Barcelona etc.
He devoted himself to XXth century repertoire and some of the most meaningful contemporary works for saxophone are dedicated to him.
He has recorded for EMI, Edipan, Stradivarius, Agorà, BMG and Sony Classical. His CD of the major saxophone concertos for soloist and orchestra, which he recorded with “G. Verdi Symphony Orchestra” conducted by H. Schellemberger, was recently released in Italy by Amadeus and is now internationally released on ARTS (München). He is Rico’s endorser.
Mr. Marzi teaches saxophone at “G. Verdi” conservatory in Milan, gives international post-graduate courses and master classes in Oporto, Amsterdam, Lisboa, Frankfurt, Beijing, Wien, London, Washington, Sydney, Denver and Caracas, within the Abreu’s project (El Sistema).
Member of the jury in the main competition for the saxophone, including Dinant in 2010, he is responsible for Italy of Gerry Mulligan’s Publisher. He is also author of several educational scores for Carisch.
His book Il Saxofono Zecchini Ed. was published in October 2009.
Sky Classica has dedicated to him an episode of the musical program “Notevoli”.
