UN BALLO CON LA LUNA FOR MIRABASSI/ZANCHINI DUO

EGEA’s second album with the duo Mirabassi – Zanchini, a work that is in line with the previous Il gatto e la volpe , but which broadens the range of sounds, atmospheres and colours that this surprising and close-knit duo is able to construct.

Both are virtuosos of their instrument. Gabriele Mirabassi of the clarinet. Simone Zanchini of the accordion. Both boast a long and prestigious curriculum. having measured themselves with the language of Jazz, of course, but also the language of classical, contemporary, Italian popular music and other traditions.

In Un ballo con la luna you can clearly hear all of this. It ranges from songs where you can breathe in atmospheres of clear Italian popular origin, like Re bello, to songs of South American inspiration, like Besame mucho, Carioca, to songs where improvisation takes over the starting melodic theme. The common thread is dance music. A music that sometimes faithfully proposes rhythms and movements typical of the dance hall music of Fellini memories, while other times transfigures them into something else, imagined, dreamed, moody. The real glue of the dance music review proposed by Gabriele and Simone is the originality of their language, the way of treating the themes, the melodies, the harmonic structures, and the development of them. A way where great creativity, individual inventiveness is always at the service of the final result. Another fascinating work created by a truly great duo.

GABRIELE MIRABASSI AND SIMONE ZANCHINI IN POTENZA FOR ASSOCIAZIONE XCOSMOPOLIS.

“The cat and the fox” Project will arrive in Pignola (Potenza) for festa della Musica 2023 by Xcosmopolis at Dimora Giorni on June 21st at 7,30pm.

The cat and the fox is a musical encounter between these two great virtuosos and their instruments as protagonists of the international music scene. The musical intersection that distinguishes both allows them to express themselves easily from time to time in the world of jazz and classical music. With this duo, the spirit of the rhythms of South America and the pulsating depth of the old swing, mingle with the sounds of today’s modern jazz, which is expressed in the compositional style of both. The eclecticism of the two musicians allowed them to wander and improvise in an extemporaneous manner with a very high communicative interplay, alternating original compositions with famous standards of the Latin-American repertoire.

They will perform a wonderful program including their own compositions and impro:

S. Zanchini – Choro romagnolo
C. Haden – Our Spanish love song
G. Mirabassi – Chisciotte
S. Zanchini – Caffè Finale
Sivuca – Um tom pra Jobim
